Pinhole Glasses

I wear glasses and have been since I was 10 years old. Initially, I was nearsighted ..but as my age caught up, I couldn't read the prints on the newspaper! I need reading glasses now and I'm JUST 42! People like my Dad needs reading glasses, right?! But as my ego (actually, my pocket!)would have nothing of that sort, I just resorted to reading news on the internet! Hah!

Then I found out about this "pinhole glasses"...theoretically it sounds good. I ordered them and just received it today from www.pinhole-glasses.com . Where else would you get them, right! Mine came with the black "Ray Ban" frames. I wonder if they have something more fashionable, or maybe if we could customize the design to fit more contemporary frames.

Anyway, these Pinhole Eyeglasses have some explanations on how these eyeglasses work here.
The explanations are very clear with little scientific jargons, except the occassional "cornea", "pupil" and etc, words that most of us would understand...well maybe not the "myopia", "hyperopia" but hey, that's when the good 'ol dictionary comes handy, eh!

To cut the story short, I was really surprised when I first tried it on! I could see BOTH near and far objects CLEARLY with those eyeglasses! I even let my grandmother of 99 years old try it on and she said she could see things clearly. But one thing for sure, she sure looks cool with those glasses ! Then everyone in the house wanted to give it a try! My missus tried in on, then all my 4 kids...then family members whom I didn't even know they had eye problems, want to try it out too! Now I know who are supposed to be the "specky" guys and gals in the family, but are too "proud" to admit or to wear one! Hah! Gotcha!

MacBook

It's been exactly 3 months today I've had my MacBook. How do I feel about it?
WONDERFUL!! And that's even an understatement!
I have been using a computer since it was DOS. I still remember when my dad bought one way back in early eighties (or was it late 70's?).. Anyway, it used those floppy disks to boot! And it came with a THICK manual. I think I still have that manual somewhere..
Then came Windows OS when I was in the US..then 95, 98, NT, ME, XP, VISTA..

To make a story short, I've summed it up this way:

What I don't miss in Windows?
Windows applications and its long list of softwares

What I miss in Windows?
Crashes, Viruses, Hangs, Long hours spent on fixing Windows

But hell yes! I CAN live with that!!

Waiting Area

Last monday, I had to accompany my sister, the youngest in the family, to the hospital. It's the General Hospital in JB. She had to have something done to her jaw, blah, blah, blah. Her story will be on another note.

The waiting area was a large floor area but divided into 3 sections: Psychiatry, Ear,Nose& Throat (ENT) and my sis's area the dentistry. Each had different ways of announcing the next patients. The dentistry would just holler out loud the next patient's name. The ENT would pre announce with a bell thingy, like on hotel's reception counter, the one you just tap to get that friendly ting-a-ling bell ring. And at the psychiatry counter, get this...they used a mic with 2 big loudspeakers, 2 feet tall each!

Wouldn't it be better to use that soothing ting-a-ling bell thingy on those people in the psychiatry department? I mean, after all, those people are "affected" in the minds...wouldn't it be like "provoking" their minds even further by using those big loudspeakers. Yeah, like you have a big headache and somebody just turned the music up! You would be pissed...I know I would!

The big loudspeakers should have been used by the ENT counter! That is where you really need it guys! Hard of hearing patients.., cannot hear at all patients..
Don't they ever learn?

Too busy ?

It's been a while since I last updated this blog...been reaaaallllllyyyyy a while! Maybe I've been too busy..mebbe have been too busy taking photo assignments, too busy with becoming a Nikon Pro Trainer, too busy with SPACEUTM photography course, too busy with kids getting back to school, too busy with forming a team of wedding photographers under my wings....Nahhh!!! TOO LAZY would be more appropriate!!!

Family Holiday Trip

The last weekend before Ramadhan, I took my family on a holiday, which was waaaayyy past due. Being a photographer, it's hard to take the weekends off..these are the times we are needed, especially so on school holidays and long weekends. People get married, corporates have their functions and family days, but mostly weddings... I had to turn down 2 jobs that weekend! But I had a good vacation..my brother Nooran and sis Norlin joined us with their families. My mom and dad, together with my youngest sis were supposed to join us but they had to cancel. Anyway, we all had a great time..so great that all my kids and
their father had a scorching sunburn!!
The skin are still peeling til today..

The place we went to was Tiara Beach Resort in Port Dickson..nice place, the kids loved it..they were in the pool most of the time. It was like pooltime after breakfast, pooltime after lunch and even after tea! They would've been in the pool after dinner too if the management didn't close it at 7pm...

Gloomy skies but scorching hot sun !

This one is my youngest, the one we call Baby G.

This is Elyana..my niece

And this is my nephew, Nafiz Nazhan

The Month of Ramadhan

Today is going to be my 9th day of fasting..alhamdullillah...
and insyaallah i'll make it to the 30th day.
Long-long time ago, and far, far away when i was in the States, i seldom fast..let me correct myself, i never fast...period. How could i fast in a country where most people in my university town called Denton, Tx never fast? Well, actually the so called "brothers" and "sisters" did fast and a lot of other muslims too..but noooo..not me... i was "lost" as they say... but not that lost laa..just my other half having the fun of his life then, and my other good half was told like," okay what..no parents to scold if you don't fast". That was when my good half lost to his other half, and so the story goes..

Now, I'm a married man with a lovely wife and 4 beautiful kids, though very naughty ones (the kids, I mean)...but they are the love of my life now (though photography sneaks in every now and then..hehehe!). When I look at my kids, they are 12, 9, 6, and 3 years old, and they all fast except the youngest..I'm ashamed at myself for not fasting when I was like 20 years old..My 6 years old daughter has been fasting when she was 5! Full day pulak tu! It's been that way since my first son..the wifey trained them that
way, thank god!
But if you were to ask my youngest, we call her Baby G, "Baby puasa tak?" She will adamantly answer," Puasa..!" even though she just had a glass of water not 30 minutes ago! Maybe she was thinking that puasa means no eating only, but drink cannnn...!!

Puasa month, my assignments in photography, normally come to a cruising speed of like 30kmh, you know the speed like when you're driving and searching for a house in a street..and last 2 ramadhans ago the speed was like no speed at all..dead stop! like you found the house you were looking for!

The past months since January 2007, it was like driving an F1 with the occasional pit stops. I could've put Schumy to shame...hehehe..Alhamdullillah..There were the kerabat's wedding at PERSADA Johor (DYMM Sultan of Johor dan kerabat DiRaja were present) the Menteri Besar of Johor and Datin, and most of the V VIPs, if not all ! It sure looked like each and every one of them was there...
Then there were the 2  photography courses that I conducted with SPACE UTM..that was another high! That was when one of my students, Izham, showed me his blogs..and then I was reading another, then another blog. Some blogs made me laugh histerically in the middle of the night! I couldn't recall which ones, but there were several..maybe I should link them here later.

Alhamdullillah, this ramadhan, next wednesday ada job! SAJ just called this afternoon to confirm assignment...hope this will start the ball rollin' for this Ramadhan, Insyaallah...
